The 22nd Tropfest is only five days away. Canberra will once again broadcast the world’s largest short film festival, from a  brand new venue,  Exhibition Park in Canberra, on  8th  December 2013.

Canberrans are encouraged to come along and support not only Australia’s Film industry but also our Filmmakers. For the second time this year, ACT’s Oliver Levi-Malouf is a finalist in the Trop Jr Competition.

‘The story came about when I was thinking about teenagers and their insecurities, and I wanted to take a quirky look at how we adapt and learn from teenage experiences.’ Oliver, 15, speaking about his film Penelope’s Penguin.

Tropfest Canberra will be screening Tropm Jr from  5pm on Arena 2 at Exhibition Park.

This may be the second Tropfest for 2013 but it has had no negative impact on the festival. Entries are up and communities across Australia are embracing this year’s theme – Change.

‘The second Tropfest for 2013 has meant big changes for the festival. New venue and new date have been a critical move for the event but certainly a positive one. We are so grateful to Australian’s for supporting us through these changes, and look forward to celebrating short films with them on December 8.’ Tropfest Managing Director, Michael Laverty.

iiNet is once again the principal sponsor of the event, continuing TransACT’s decade-long association with the Canberra screening of Tropfest.

iiNet and TransACT customers can upgrade their Tropfest experience with free bright orange inflatable backrests available on presentation of an iiNet or TransACT invoice at the iiNet info marquee. Other Tropfest guests can get their hands on a cushion for a gold coin donation with proceeds going to CANTEEN. Backrests are limited so guests are encouraged to get in quick.

‘iiNet is delighted to be able to continue supporting this fantastic event and with this great new location and change of date, we expect this to be the biggest Tropfest ever.’Maryna Fewster, iiNet Chief Customer Officer.

Arena 2 at EPIC will come alive with DJ Felix, special guests, great food, and of course, the main attraction, the films of the 16 finalists for Tropfest December 2013.

Patrons who want to experience Tropfest in style can purchase a ‘Reserved Lawn’ ticket. Seated in a prime location in front of the iiNet Big Screen, they will be living it up with sparkling wine, popcorn and other goodies.

As well as iiNet, Tropfest Canberra has fantastic local support including funding from the ACT Government, and sponsorships from major local supporter the ANU, and local partners 104.7FM, the Canberra Times, Eclipse Lighting and Sound and Felixx.

With Tropfest now in December, organisers remind patrons to be sun-smart and to hydrate regularly.

Convenient parking is available at Wells Station Car Park for $10 with a short and safe walk to Arena 2.
